- Italian Digestifs. The best Known Italian Digestifs are Grappa, Genepi, Strega, Cynar, Amaretto, Limoncello, and Amaro digestifs.
a. Grappa Digestif - Grappa Liquer or liquior is a pornaced graped-based brandy or it is a brandy made from grape’s residuals. And these residuals which are called pornace is being fermented and distilled to create a pornace brandy like Grappa.
Grape residuals include seeds, fermented peels of grapes, and stems are being fermented and distilled which forms the Grappa liqueurs.
b. Genepi Digestif – this Italian favorite digestif is not made originally in Italy compare to Grappa, for Genepi are being made from France imported to Italy. Yes, Genepi digestif is the French Genepi. (You can see it at my French digestifs list above).
c. Strega Digestif - Strega Liquer or commonly known as Liquore Strega is an Italian herbal liqueurs made of 70 aromatic herbs and spices including mint and fennel with mixture of sugar and safran. It is a yellowish sweet drink with an after taste of anice.
Strega Liquer is made at Campania Italy and also being used as flavoring ingredient for Torta Caprese cake.
